Codecraft Works Announces Brevard Schools Coding Winners and New BattleScripts Features

Satellite, FL – Codecraft Works, an educational technology developer and world-class training partner, wrapped up the most recent Codecraft Computer Programming Competition (CCPC) as part of Brevard Schools’ Innovation Games. Using the CCPC framework, which leverages Codecraft Works’ browser-based programming environments, Codecraft effectively hosts, processes, and evaluates entries from our local students.

In the coding competition, elementary students created projects using the Scratch programming platform, middle school competitors created web projects using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and high school students created autonomous game scripts in Python.

High school competition entries were written in the Python programming language in Codecraft Works’ game programming environment. Competitors created tic-tac-toe scripts to be run in a bracketed tournament. Multiple games of tic-tac-toe were played per matchup, and winners advanced through the bracket. Congratulations to our first and second place winners from Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy!

The Launch of Codecraft Works’ BattleScripts

At the end of the competition, the Codecraft team announced player vs player matches with the launch of BattleScripts: choose a game, learn the rules, then write a program that plays it!

Free BattleScripts Courses for Teachers and Students

To celebrate the BattleScripts launch and CS Education Week, Codecraft Works will be giving away access to Tic-Tac-Toe scripting courses and tournaments to teachers and their classes! These courses are recommended for 6th grade and up, can be self-paced or teacher-led, and are available in Java, Python, and Blockly. Students can use the BattleScripts they create to play against each other or compete in classroom tournaments.

Teachers who sign up will receive classroom access to scripting courses for their choice of Blockly, Python, and/or Java programming languages. Course access will be given in February, with optional classroom tournaments run for you by Codecraft Works in the spring.
